The Quantile Scale

The Quantile Scale

The Quantile Scale includes measures from below 0Q to above 1600Q. These measures represent the Quantile Framework’s developmental continuum from kindergarten mathematics through Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Precalculus.

Measures for very basic math tasks and early developing students are reported using the letters “EM” which stand for “Emerging Mathematician.” Measures with an EM represent Quantile measures below 0Q. Just as a thermometer can measure degrees below zero, the Quantile Scale measures mathematics difficulty and ability below zero. For instance, the skill “Model the concept of addition for sums to 10” has a Quantile measure of EM260Q, which is 260Q below zero on the scale.
